Why did we sponsor Clare?
Clare’s parents never had the opportunity to receive an education themselves. The family depended on the sale of cows and goats to make a living. When Clare first came into contact with our foundation in 2008, she was on the verge of being forced into marriage. Thanks to the support of Kids to School, she was given the opportunity to continue her secondary education and has been sponsored since 2008. In 2012, Clare successfully completed her secondary school education.
Since September 2013, Kids to School has supported her in pursuing a pre-certificate course in Early Childhood Development, as this represented an important step toward an independent future. She successfully completed this training in 2015. Since 2013, Clare has also participated in the Maasai Girls Education Fund (MGEF) Program.
In 2015, Clare got married and gave birth to a son. Kids to School offered her the opportunity to continue her studies by enrolling in the Certificate level of her Early Childhood Development program in January 2016. In March 2017, Clare successfully completed this course.
The education and training she received have enabled her to build an independent future for herself and her family. She now works as a preschool teacher, and in 2018 she welcomed her second child.
