Elijah dreams of giving back by helping vulnerable students access education.

Why did we sponsor Elijah?
In 2017, Elijah’s parents relied on just eight goats and occasional casual jobs for their income. To pay the secondary school fees for Elijah and his eldest sister, they sometimes had to sell one or two goats or seek help from their community. Even so, Elijah was regularly sent home from school because the fees could not be paid.
Kids to School was pleased to support Elijah, relieving his family of the constant worry of finding the money for his school fees. Thanks to his strong performance in secondary school, Kids to School later continued to sponsor him in pursuing further education.
The story of Elijah
Elijah grew up in a polygamous family of 18 children in a rural area without electricity. His parents never attended school. He was raised in a close-knit family where cooperation and responsibility were paramount. As one of the oldest children, Elijah learned early on the importance of caring for others and taking the lead. He began school at age five and
later thrived in secondary school, where he built close friendships and discovered a passion for mathematics. When he faced challenges, the guidance of his mentor, Alice, helped him regain his confidence and succeed, a prime example of how mentorship and support can make a
lasting difference. After high school, Elijah continued his studies in Medical Laboratory Science at Meru University. His University years broadened his skills and outlook, particularly during his industrial attachement. He graduated in 2025, after completing a research project at the Meru Teaching and Referral Hospital. Elijah joined the Kids to School program in 2017 and was supported throughout eight years of education. Today, as a graduate, he dreams of giving back by helping vulnerable students access education. His message to current students
