Why did we sponsor John?
John is the second in a family with five children. Due to lack of money, he was unable to start further education after high school. Kids to School has been sponsoring him since September 2018 for his English studies at Cebu Normal University. John graduated magna cum laude in June 2022.
How is John doing now?
John now lives on Cebu, one of the islands of the Philippines. He first worked as an English teacher at a private school. Since June 2025, he has been teaching at the school he founded himself on Cebu. This is a government position, which offers greater job security and better pay.
John lives with his family in a two-bedroom home, where six people share the household. After a major flood in 2013, they lost their home and all of their possessions. John is the family’s main breadwinner and pays for the education of his two younger brothers.
