Why did we sponsor Julius?
At primary school, Julius stood out because of his intelligence. His teacher had great confidence in his abilities and helped him apply for secondary school. The family of Julius had to survive on the income his mother earned from temporary jobs. His father was unable to support the family because he had lost a leg in an accident. The family’s income was barely enough to meet their basic daily needs, let alone to pay for Julius’s secondary school fees. Although Julius was able to start his studies there, he was about to drop out of school in his second year because lack of money for his school fees. To prevent this from happening, Kids to School started sponsoring Julius on January 1, 2018. Thanks to this support, he was able to continue his education and work towards a better future.
Julius’s academic performance in secondary school fell somewhat short of the expectations based on his achievements in primary school. His home environment likely played a role, as it was not ideal for focusing fully on his studies. Nevertheless, Julius persevered and successfully completed secondary school in May 2021, graduating with a grade of C-. After graduation, he was admitted to the Electrical Engineering program at the Thika Technical Training Institute. Kids to School also supported him throughout this further education. A technical vocational qualification significantly improves his chances of securing stable employment and provides a solid foundation for a financially secure and sustainable future.
Unfortunately, Julius did not complete his vocational training. He left the program at the end of 2021 and, regrettably, ceased all communication with Kids to School.
