Why did we sponsor Levis?
Levis performed really well in secondary school, but her mother’s income from selling vegetables was insufficient to pay the school fees for Levis and her four siblings. Her father had passed away. Kids to School began sponsoring Levis’s secondary education in 2011 because she was a promising student who deserved the opportunity to build a better future through quality education.
Our support continued in January 2014 when Levis enrolled in a diploma program in Accountancy. Unfortunately, she did not pass her first year and was forced to discontinue her studies. As Levis expressed a desire to pursue a different and less demanding course, and because Kids to School strongly believes that vocational education can significantly improve future opportunities, we decided to give her a second chance. So in September 2015 she began a new course in Information Technology.
Unfortunately, Kids to School had to stop the sponsorship on March 1, 2016. Despite repeated warnings, Levis failed to meet the requirements that apply to all our students: maintaining regular communication with mentor, submitting copies of academic results on time, and providing access to grades through the online student portal.
