Why did we sponsor Maria?
Maria’s mother has always taken care of her four children alone. She tries to earn a living for her family by picking tea. The income was not enough to pay for secondary school for any of her children. But Maria had finished her primary school with good results and thanks to the temporary support of COTRR she was able to start her first year of secondary school.
Because she was a good student, Kids to School wanted to give her the support to complete her secondary education without financial worries. We started sponsoring Maria in January 2020 when she was in form 2. We believe that a good education will give her a better chance of independently building a brighter future.
At the end of 2022 Maria finished secondary school. She was not allowed to continue her education in Kenya since she is from Uganda. She decided not to move to Uganda to pursue higher education.
