Why did we sponsor Mary?

Mary’s parents passed away in 2004, and she went to live with her grandmother. Her grandmother did not have sufficient income to pay for Mary’s secondary education. Therefore, Mary was sponsored by Kids to School from 2011 onwards. She successfully completed her secondary school education in 2012.

Mary was then sponsored to obtain a certificate in Social Work and Community Development. This vocational training gave her better opportunities for the future. Because she achieved good results, Kids to School gave her the opportunity to continue her studies and obtain a diploma in the same field. She passed her final examinations in July 2016, and the official diploma was awarded in November 2016.

Mary worked as a volunteer after completing her final exams in order to find a job as quickly as possible. In November 2016, she started her first paid job.

Mary’s own words (Newsletter Kids to School February 2017)

Dear family of Kids to School Foundation,
I want to take this opportunity to thank and appreciate you all as the family of Kids to School foundation for the support I have been getting from the foundation. Since I joined this organization, my life has been a successful one with the help of the good services you provided me with in terms of school fees, house rent, expense and also good advice and guidance. I want to thank also the Local Advisory Council members of Kenya for their support and hard work to the foundation by coming together as a team whenever there is any concern and also for making easy communication to the foundation between the students and their mentors.

I thank my mentor, Nicholas for his support, his words of encouragement and advice that he used to give me and also for making easy communication when necessary. Let me give thanks also to my fellow students for being good and disciplined to the organization and I urge you to continue in that spirit to make the organization more proud and for the organization to be proud of us too. I am happy to meet and be with the family of Kids to School and more so when they visit Kenya from Netherlands with their friends. May we still remain as one family especially during this December holiday season as I wish you all, a happy Merry Christmas and a new year 2017. May our Almighty God continue to bless and protect the entire family of kids to school foundation for their good deeds.

Regards,Mary.
