Why did we sponsor Salama?
Salama’s single mother had never received any formal education and was unemployed. Salama has one younger sister and two brothers. Despite her limited financial means, her mother believed strongly in the importance of a good education and therefore applied for Salama to attend Steven Tito Academy. Through Kids to School sponsorship, Salama was able to start first grade at Steven Tito Academy in 2013, when she was eight years old. It soon became clear that she was a very diligent student. She successfully completed her primary education in 2018.
From January 2019 until the end of 2022, her sponsorship was continued so that she could attend secondary school. During this period, Kids to School covered only the costs of boarding accommodation and school supplies, such as her school uniform, notebooks, and other educational materials. Public secondary education itself is free in Tanzania.
Because Salama was a hardworking student with good academic results, Kids to School gave her the opportunity to pursue further education. Higher education significantly improves a person’s chances of building an independent and successful future. Salama wanted to work in the hospitality industry and therefore started a Hotel Management course in January 2024. She successfully completed this programme at the end of 2024.
How is Salama doing now?
After completing her studies, Salama began looking for a job in 2025. We wish her every success in finding employment and building a bright future for herself.
