Why did we sponsor Samuel?

He is the eldest son in a family of seven children. His father is absent, and the family survives on a small farm in Kajiado county. Thanks to the support of his grandmother, he was able to complete secondary school. He graduated in 2022, but due to a lack of financial resources, he was unable to begin further studies. Instead, he helped his grandmother on the farm, while still holding on to his strong desire to continue his education.

In recognition of his excellent academic performance and determination, Kids to School offered him the opportunity to pursue his studies. He has been sponsored by Kids to School since April 2024. He finished his diploma study Agricultural Extension at the end of 2025. Thanks to his education, he can now work toward a self-reliant and successful future.

Samuel’s own words

I am Samuel (2002), born in a family of seven siblings being the second child. Went through hardship in my primary and secondary education due to financial contraints as my parents couldnt afford much for us all. After form four, (where I lived with my grand mom as i go to a day school), I couldn’t proceed to college since there wasnt money for that. I stayed at home for two years until when Kids to school came through for me through my now mentor, Muriet. The biggest turning point in my life was when you stepped in to sponsored my Diploma in Agriculture Extension. That support did more by paying fees and my upkeep throughout and also gave me hope and my path forward. During the course, I learned to work in modern agriculture on both livestock and crops on improve methods. During the course of all these things, I learned that discipline and hard work can change a life. Today, I work as a horticulturist and groundskeeper at Ambokili cottages in Loitoktok in casual basis as i hope for a permanent job in the near future; maybe here or in another place. My duties here are maintaining herbs, flowers, lawns, fruits and sometimes ornamental plants. The skills I gained in college I now use every single day. My desire is to grow in the Agriculture sector and eventually become a Farm Manager. I want to one day give someone else the same opportunity you gave me. Upon your acceptance, I would love to pursue a degree in Agriculture Extension for more advancement and also matching the market competitiveness.
Thank you for believing in me.
