Why do we sponsor Mary?
Mary lived with her grandmother, who does not earn enough to adequately support her. In her application letter, Mary expressed a strong desire to find a sponsor, as she is highly motivated to attend school and continue her education. She attends secondary school and has to walk 7 kilometres each way to get there. Because school fees were often unpaid, she was regularly sent home from school.
Kids to School began paying Mary’s school fees for a day school in January 2025. However, the long daily journey to and from school, combined with the difficult living conditions and poverty at her grandmother’s home, did not provide a stable environment for studying. Therefore, we gave Mary the opportunity to transfer to a boarding school, where she could focus more fully on her education. She started there at the end of March 2025.
Mary is a motivated student, a hard worker, and consistently achieves good grades. Her dream is to become a neurosurgeon and build an independent future for herself. If Mary continues to perform well academically, Kids to School will do everything possible to support her in achieving her goals and turning her dreams into reality.
